Lawrence PMMA resident, employees test positive for COVID-19 1/22

An independent living resident, three essential health care employees, one direct care contract employee and one non-direct care employee at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor have tested positive for COVID-19. The employees last worked on dates ranging from January 7 through January 21, screening in prior to their shifts and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.

We have notified the Douglas County Health Department and will follow their guidance for testing and quarantine. Visitation continues with infection control precautions and social distancing requirements per new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements.

The resident will isolate until they meet the PMMA Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) policy, CDC and KDHE guidelines for ending isolation.

We will follow the PMMA Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) policy, CDC and KDHE guidelines for when the employees and contract employee may return to work.  Upon their return to work, we will follow CDC recommendations related to work practices and restrictions.

PMMA strongly encourages our families, employees and residents to carefully consider getting a COVID-19 vaccination for themselves, as well as their loved ones. Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large.

All employees are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and best practices as these are continually updated. The community regularly reinforces with all staff that an employee should not report to work if he or she is experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness or not feeling well.
