“Senior Living 101” event helps people learn about our community

Making the decision to move into a senior living community can be overwhelming. You may have many questions – from the cost to the level of care you might need.

A few weeks ago, marketing and sales director Chris Phelps, tackled questions from manor residents and guests during our Senior Living 101 event.

Chris – who’s an avid skydiver – compared deciding to make the move to making the jump out of a plane.

“You’re not alone,” Chris said while showing video of some of his jumps.  “Just like I have my support team, my instructor, when I get ready to jump, you’ll have your support team with manor staff.”

Chris added that both moves come with some reasonable fears, but with enough understanding and education, you can feel secure in your decision.

About 30 people attended the event. They learned more about the amenities and services offered at the manor and how they translate into a secure, maintenance-free lifestyle. Besides independent and assisted living, Lawrence Presbyterian Manor offers health care services, a short-term rehab program with PATH (Post-Acute to Home), and a temporary stay for those who need a break for their daily chores. The group in attendance also learned that manor residents have priority access to PATH and health services.

“You’re not getting any younger,” said independent living resident Pat Blair. “It’s time to make the decision while you can.”
